But our endorsement focuses on her LGBTQ+ rights record, which is stellar, and what she promises to do in that realm as president. Her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, is a strong LGBTQ+ ally too, something that certainly cannot be said of Trump’s vice-presidential pick, U.S. Sen. JD Vance.

Either we elect Donald Trump who plans to destroy the public Postal Service, our jobs and union, further undermine workers’ rights, women’s rights and voting rights, and send us on a path to dictatorship, or elect Kamala Harris who has proven as Vice President and in prior political office, to have demonstrated support for postal issues and some genuine advocacy for workers’ rights, women’s rights, unions, respect for all people and common decency.

She offers a vision of hope and aspiration against former president Donald Trump’s message of fear and loathing. His supporters should take him at his word when he threatens damaging policies.

She has a grave responsibility to get this right. The consequences of putting a deluded, angry man-child like Trump back in charge of the world’s destiny at such a dangerous time internationally are too terrifying to contemplate.

Vice President Harris has been a key partner in leading the most pro-union White House ever. She played a critical role in advancing the biggest investment in our nation’s infrastructure in modern times, and in doing so is helping to create hundreds of thousands of good union jobs. She has been a trusted partner in bringing jobs back to the U.S. by reviving our manufacturing base. Through the Inflation Reduction Act, the Vice President has helped transform renewable energy jobs into family-supporting union jobs. Vice President Harris, through her advocacy for the American Rescue Plan, helped save the hard-earned pensions of more than 1 million union workers and retirees, and she has pushed to lower prescription drug costs for all, especially retirees.

Donald Trump represents an existential threat to everything we love about Los Angeles. He spreads hate and division wherever he goes, as he did recently here during his visit to Pacific Palisades. On the other hand, Vice President Kamala Harris embodies the positivity, professionalism, law and order, and innovation that we love about our city.

As one of the largest youth-led movements in the nation, we are clear-eyed about the challenge ahead and we believe that they are uniquely suited to meet this moment. Throughout her time in DC, first as a Senator and then as Vice President, she has been a forceful champion for gun safety and for young people.

The Trump era must come to an end. A potential Harris presidency offers Americans a future free from his grasp, paving the way for a new generation of bipartisan leadership committed to democracy and freedom.

Kamala Harris is the only choice.

The United States simply cannot endure another four years of Donald Trump. He is an agent of chaos, an enemy of liberal democracy, and a threat to America’s moral standing in the world. Kamala Harris—who has shown herself to be sensible, humane, and liberal-minded—is our choice for the Presidency.
